This session will focus on how to work with a pooled trust in cases that are under court supervision. The session is intended to give attendees the working knowledge and tools needed to counsel their clients and referral sources on the process of using a pooled trust, how to get the pooled trust approved by the court, and how to deal with specific issues such as Medicare set-aside arrangements (MSAs), caregiving issues, and unusual disbursements such as the purchase of a residence. We will also be reviewing how distributions are made, and how a distribution plan can assist in the smooth administration of the account and help identify issues before they become a crisis. While much of the course is designed to help attendees with pooled trust cases, the materials will be useful for non-pooled trust cases as well.

Stephen W. Dale, Esq, Golden State Pooled Trust:  Utilizing various methods to create court-ordered cases
